Finding Wonder in the Winter Season: A Holiday Message From the Studio

As the days grow shorter and winter settles in around us, I always find myself returning to the quiet magic of the season. There’s something about December; the soft light, the stillness, the sense of reflection, that invites creativity in a different way. It feels like nature itself takes a deep breath, offering both rest and inspiration.
In my studio, the Christmas season brings a renewed appreciation for the wildlife that inspires so much of my work. While we gather indoors to celebrate, animals continue their ancient winter rhythms—foxes moving silently through powdery snow, owls keeping watch in the early dusk, deer navigating frosted forests. These moments remind me why I create: to capture the fragile beauty of the natural world and share it with others before it slips away.
This time of year also brings the joy of gifting. Many of you choose to share my artwork as meaningful presents for loved ones, and it’s an honour I never take lightly. Art has a beautiful way of speaking for us—of saying “I see you. I know what you love. I want to give you something that lasts.” Whether it’s a print, a card, or an original piece, I’m grateful that
my work becomes part of your holiday traditions.
As we approach the new year, I’m already dreaming up new wildlife pieces, new stories to tell through color and texture, and raise awareness of the fragile wildlife we share this planet with. Winter reminds me that even in the coldest months, creativity has a way of glowing warm and steady.
Thank you for being part of this journey—whether you’ve followed my work for years or found me recently. Your support makes every hour at the drawing table worthwhile.
Wishing you a peaceful, joy-filled Christmas season, and a New Year full of hope, wonder, and wild beauty.
Gwen xx
